Saint Boniface Programs and Enrichment Activities

Math Lab:

  • A certified Teacher works one on one with the students.
  • Students in grades 4-6 can come after school Monday thru Thursday, for 30 minutes to work on homework or for tutoring as needed.

Battle of the Books:  This is a program where catholic schools throughout Fort Smith, Ar are given a BOB (battle of the books) book list.

  • 11 to14 books on list
  • Each grade (grades 4-6) is assigned books.
  • Students pick Bob teams.
  • They read and study books, and meet with Mrs. Foss weekly to discuss books.
  • There is a competition between Fort Smith schools in April where they ask questions from the books (kind of like a quiz bowl competition).
  • The winning team from each school goes to the State competition in Conway.

Quiz Bowl:

  • Fifth and sixth grade students participate.
  • Sixth grade goes to competition at Trinity Junior High.
  • Sixth Grade Teacher and Ms. Bentley work with students on trivia and practice weekly for quiz bowl.
  • Our students placed 2nd in quiz bowl last year.


  • 4-6 grade students.
  • Mr. Klein teaches them to play chess and they have a chess club that meets once per week after school under the direction of Mr. Klein.
  • We have a school wide chess tournament and a city wide chess tournament.
  • We placed 2nd in city wide tourney last year.

Spirit Squad:

  • For girls in grades 1-6.
  • Opportunity to learn cheers and dances.
  • Perform at lawn social, open house, select junior high games, Christmas parade.
  • They practice one time per week after school.


  • For grades Pre k- 6th grade.
  • Games are in spring/early summer.


  • For grades 3-6 boys and girls.

Rhythm Band:

  • All kindergarten students participate.
  • Tradition since Saint Boniface began.
  • They play instruments such as triangles, cymbals, tambourines, bells, sticks, etc.
  • Perform at lawn social, open house, Christmas carols in the community, and various times throughout the year..

Altar servers:

  • Students in grades 4-6.
  • Trained by Priest.
  • Serve Friday Masses and Funerals for parishioners, and weekend Masses.

Liturgical Ministries:

  • K-3 participate in offertory.
  • 3-6 participate in reading as lectors.
  • 3-6 grades participate in cantoring.
  • School rosary once a week/stations of the cross once a week during lent.


  • Grades 4-6 learn to play recorders.
  • 2 musical plays per year. Grades 1-6 participate.


  • Grades 5-6 participate in nonpublic school track meet, and public school track meet.

Service Projects:

  • 6th grade serve food to homeless every Thursday for the sack lunch program.
  • 1st grade pairs with Saint Scholastica for several service projects throughout the year.
  • Catholic Schools Week Service projects- every class participates in various service projects throughout the community.

Field Trips:

  • Hands on learning through various field trips is highly promoted.
  • Examples of some field trips from last year: Wild things farm, Crystal Bridges Museum, Fort Smith Ballet, NHS drama productions, Landfill, Jones Center, Devil’s Den, RAM art museum, Janet Huckabee Nature Center, STEM science expo, Preschool musical concerts, and many more.
